VIDEO: Our how and why for Colorado's long-term care residents.
Older adults living in nursing homes or on hospice care can no longer travel into a dental office for care. Medicare does not include dental care in their standard benefit. Older patients do not have the hand strength and dexterity to brush their own teeth. Lack of daily oral care in long term care facilities leads to cavities and unnecessary dental pain. Older adults have an increased risk of pneumonia due to aspirating dental bacteria plaque into their lungs. Bacteria in the mouth is linked to an increase in Alzheimer's disease. Tooth pain leading to extractions can cause severe bleeding and complications for this delicate population. Prevention is the key with regular onsite dental hygiene care inside the nursing homes.
Patients experiencing mobility challenges such as quadriplegia, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and strokes are unable to travel into a traditional dental office for care. They require special transport vehicles and assistance to transfer from a wheelchair to the dental chair. Our bedside care eliminates this barrier to care, stress and uncomfortableness for both the patient and their caregiver.
A cleared space of approximately 7 x 7 is necessary to accommodate our dental equipment
